What we do

What we do
For over 165 years the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has helped thousands of businesses achieve growth through advocacy and consulting services.

Our organisation was founded in 1851 with the aim to make Melbourne one of the world’s great free ports. Today, we help Victorian businesses succeed in two ways:

  1. Our policy and advocacy activities ensure the political, regulatory and business environment in Victoria is conducive to attracting investment and establishing, operating and growing a business.
  2. We support individual businesses daily through a range of services across workplace relations, health, safety and environment, training and apprenticeships, career development and exporting services.

Representing you to government

We are a trusted advocate at all levels of government. We represent our members, providing reliable and informed advice on the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities facing the business community.

Our policy work engages members through surveys, direct consultation and research to drive policy outcomes that benefit businesses. Members can access our in-depth research to inform their strategic objectives.

Expert advice, analysis and support

Our consultants are industry specialists that can protect and grow your business.

We provide consulting support in three major areas:

We can identify specific opportunities for growth, help you avoid risk, or provide specialised training or coaching. Our consultants can even partner with your organisation for long term secondments.

Sharing knowledge, experience and connections

Our networking events bring members of the Victorian business community together to strengthen business to business and business to government relationships, source new ideas, uncover the latest industry trends and gather up-to-date business information.

We create events with impact. Members benefit from inspiring speakers unpacking issues relevant to industry: the latest HR strategies to improve staff retention and productivity, understanding legislative changes, personal development and leadership.
