3% minimum wage increase
This represents a $21.60-a-week pay rise, with the weekly national minimum wage increasing to $740.80.
This is significantly higher than the 1.8% wage increase sought by the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and represents the tenth year in a row in which minimum wages have been increased by more than inflation.
The Australian Chamber’s response to the increase highlighted that Australia already has one of the highest minimum wages in the world, and their concern the increase will ‘put jobs in danger and risk the viability of some small businesses’.
The Victorian Chamber is currently in the process of updating our wage information documents. Draft versions will be uploaded to the relevant award subscription page on the website and members who subscribe to particular awards will be notified as soon as the information becomes available.
